The activities of the MCA Services Specialist Materials Division concern the production of materials primarily for sensor and biosensor applications but also with applications in electro catalysis and fuel cell technology. These materials include, for example, platinum impregnated carbons, rhodium impregnated carbons and fine grades of silver chloride. Two sub-divisions operate within our Specialist Materials Division: the Raw Materials Division provides for the production of dry powders of platinised carbon, rhodium on carbon and silver chloride whereas the Finished Products Division formulates these as inks for subsequent printing or coating applications. MCA Services has received four UK Dti SMART Awards for innovative technology in this field. Our products are therefore unique and are supplied to markets world wide. Furthermore, the team at MCA Services have enjoyed very close relationships with many of our clients, working on specific customer orientated projects. Many of these have lead to the successful development of specialist materials and are currently being exploited commercially with great success. To suit the specific requirements of different end applications, the compositions of many systems can be varied. For example, the platinum or rhodium content and support materials (type and grade of carbon or graphite) of dry powders can be altered. The resin compositions of inks can also be tailored according to individual requirements. We are capable of supplying commercial quantities of these materials and are very experienced with working in collaboration with our customers worldwide to develop special systems to suit individual requirements.
